Next Generation Leadership Program - Preparing Future Leaders Today

Underserved youth, particularly those in Black, Brown, and marginalized communities, face disproportionate systemic barriers. These include over-policing, higher rates of substance use, and mental health challenges.

• Criminalization:  Black youth are more than five times as likely to be detained or committed compared to their white peers. Latino youth are 65% more likely to be referred to juvenile courts than white youth (ACLU).
• Substance Use: Stress and trauma in disadvantaged communities lead to increased risk of substance use, with 25% of 12th graders in underserved communities having tried illegal drugs (National Institute on Drug Abuse).
• Mental Health: Depression and suicide rates are on the rise. The CDC reports an 80% increase in suicide attempts among Black youth over the last decade, with a 40% increase for Latino youth.

The Next Generation Leadership Program addresses these systemic issues by creating a supportive environment where youth can build resilience, navigate personal and societal challenges, and craft a brighter future.

• Through these workshops, the Next Generation Leadership Program have provided a roadmap for many youths to discover their personal power, develop emotional resilience, and foster a purposeful life. Each session builds upon the last, ensuring participants leave with a strong foundation for leadership and personal growth.
